Latvian IT Cluster (LITC) as ITS Latvia initiative lead, has been granted support to strengthen ITS initiatives and partnerships with Nordic partners. Under "Imagine ITS Nordic-Baltic Region" project, NGSLV-869, funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) are crucial for the development of modern, efficient, and sustainable transportation networks. These systems leverage advanced technology to improve traffic management, reduce congestion, enhance safety, and minimize environmental impact. By integrating ITS, regions can foster economic growth, improve quality of life, and ensure a more sustainable future. LITC wants to lead these initiatives and learn from best practices of more advanced regions to accelerate its ITS development, making its transportation networks smarter and more efficient.
ITS Latvia, together with project partners, aims to strengthen cooperation among ITS clusters in the BSR, specifically ITS Latvia, ITS Finland, and ITS Norway. Through supported networking, experience sharing, and knowledge transfer, the project seeks to enhance cluster capacity and foster partnership concepts within the region's ITS ecosystem.
Project key activities include:
Experience Exchange: Visit to ITS Finland to learn about best practices in creating a strong local innovation ecosystem and partnership with stakeholders. Experience sharing with ITS Finland, ITS Norway, and ITS Latvia representatives.
Network Cooperation: Participation in the "Imagine Tampere" event will enable networking with other innovation ecosystem players in the Nordic-Baltic region. This supports collaboration with cities, tech companies, and research institutions to advance sustainable digital futures and innovation.
Knowledge Transfer: Organized online ideation sessions will promote concrete approaches and solutions, particularly engaging SMEs and other stakeholders to mobilize ITS ecosystems.
Additionally, the project targets finding a common focus for a joint partnership concepts, to elevate ITS sector collaboration, experience economy, and smart innovations. This engagement will enrich the project's objectives, fostering a dynamic and sustainable ITS ecosystem in the Nordic-Baltic partnership.
The first activities for strengthening cooperation between Nordic and Baltic ITS organizations have already taken place June 11-12. Four Latvian municipalities were invited to join the Latvian team, further broadening the scope and impact of the project.
Project duration: 13.05.2024 - 30.11.2024.
